Silk'n Sounds award winning chorus is based in Greater New Haven, CT
Directed by Kia Lampe-Onnerud, Silk’n Sounds is a women’s a cappella chorus that is dedicated to excellence in the performance of four-part harmony in the American barbershop tradition and in other musical styles. The chorus performs a broad repertoire of traditional and contemporary songs, including jazz standards, ballads, and rhythmic pop favorites. Silk’n Sounds’ performances are enhanced by sophisticated choreography and moving musical interpretations that tell compelling stories through song.
Founded in 1998 as the first Connecticut chapter of Harmony Inc., a vibrant international organization of women barbershop singers, Silk’n Sounds is committed to making a positive difference in the community through the transformative power of musical performance. In addition to providing dynamic a cappella entertainment to a variety of audiences for nearly 20 years, the chorus performs in Harmony, Inc.’s annual competitions. Over recent years, Silk’n Sounds has placed among the top choruses in its area group (which includes New England and eastern Canada) and internationally . The chorus has also won several special awards for performance and music.
