Happy Holiday Harmonies!

Silk'n Sounds entertained a full house at our annual holiday concert. Additional performances for the season were held at North Haven Library on Dec. 3rd and West Haven Congregational Church (to benefit the West Haven Library) on Dec. 18th.

Harmony, Inc. 2016 International Contest & Convention

Once again, Silk'n Sounds Chorus placed in the top ten, with our highest score yet, at Harmony, Inc's annual international contest and convention. The event took place in Providence, Rhode Island on November 4th. Our group was the last to perform out of 24 choruses, and we delivered a well-received performance to a very full audience of fellow singers and supporters.

Temple Beth Sholom

Silk'n Sounds entertained the audience at Temple Beth Sholom in Hamden, CT with a performance  that covered the spectrum of tender ballads, jazz classics, and fun choreographed up-tunes. We received many enthusiastic words of support and appreciation after the show, several commenting on our beautiful blended sound. Here's a quote from an attendee:

"All day I kept saying I've got to write you to tell you how much we enjoyed the concert.   You are all so terrific!  Your sound is amazing!  We loved every song.  Can't wait for the next concert." 

Harmony Area 2 Convention & Competition

The Silk'n Sounds chorus participated in Harmony Inc's Area 2 Contest in Devens, MA. We placed fourth, earning our highest score to date, and qualified for the International competition in November. Area contests are a great way to meet other barbershop singers and share the joy of music together.

Wilton Go Green!

Silk’n Sounds added their upbeat vocal energy to the Wilton Go Green Festival in Wilton, CT. After singing several numbers under the shelter of the gazebo, the group braved the drizzly weather by traveling, troubadour-style, through the festival grounds to entertain vendors and attendees.

Silk’n Sounds performed at the First Congregational Church in West Haven to benefit the West Haven Library.

Silk’n Sounds gave a lively performance at Anthony’s Ocean View at the appreciation dinner for the Volunteers of Yale-New Haven Hospital.

 Lynelle Abel of Yale-New Haven Hospital expressed her own appreciation by saying, “It was a wonderful event and your performance was the icing on the cake!”

Celebrating the Season with Song!

Silk'n Sounds holiday audiences were greeted with joyful harmonies of seasonal favorites and jazz standards by our award winning chorus. The annual "Happy Holiday Harmonies" concert also featured performances by Providence based men's quartet, Trade Secret. Public performances at North Haven Library & Southbury Library were both filled to capacity and left attendees filled with yuletide cheer.

Area 2 Second Place Winners!!

Silk'n Sounds was thrilled to win second place in the Harmony Inc. Area Contest in Warwick, RI. In addition, the chorus received the Rising Star Award,  the Area 2  Achievement Award,  the Carol Gardner "Singing With Heart Award" and the Area 2 Sandi White Membership Award.  The chorus will be competing in the International competition in November in Verona, New York. 

Holiday Harmonies!

Silk'n Sounds celebrated the season with concerts for the Son's of the American Revolution in New Haven, Dec. 8th, the North Haven Public Library, Dec. 9th, the annual holiday concert, Holiday Harmonies on Dec. 14, and Highview Manor in Hamden on Dec. 18th.

Holiday Harmonies delighted our packed audience with holiday favorites & fun swing jazz. Special guest performers were the Boston based Stardust Singers and trumpeter Per Onnerud.

Silk'n Sounds performed for the West Haven Historical Society on Oct. 18th, for the Musical Arts Society of Branford on Nov. 7th, and for Wine, Women & Song a benefit event for Wallingford Homeless Shelter on Nov. 22.
